TRANSISTOR BIASING CIRCUITS

Bipolar junction transistor biasing and stabilization: Operating point, Analysis and design of fixed bias, Collector to base bias and Voltage divider bias circuits, Bias compensation using diode and thermistor. JFET Biasing: Fixed bias, Self bias and Voltage divider bias circuits. MOSFET biasing: Biasing by fixing VGS, Biasing by fixing VG and connecting a resistance at the source, Biasing using a drain to gate feedback resistor. PRACTICAL 1. Study of Rectifiers and Regulators 2. Test the DC Characteristics of various BJT biasing circuits.

BJT AND FET AMPLIFIER

THEORY Small signal Analysis: small signal analysis of CE amplifier using h-parameter equivalent circuit. Small signal analysis of JFET CS amplifier. Response of amplifiers at low frequencies: Low frequency analysis of common emitter amplifier Response of amplifiers at high frequencies: Miller effect, High frequency analysis of common emitter amplifier-Short circuit current gain, cut off frequency – fα and fβ unity gain frequencies. Differential amplifiers. PRACTICAL 1. Frequency response of Common Emitter amplifier. 2. Frequency response of JFET Common source amplifier.

FEEDBACK AMPLIFIERS & TUNED AMPLIFIERS

THEORY Basic Feedback amplifiers: Series - Shunt, Series - Series, Shunt – Shunt and Shunt - Series Feedback amplifiers. Tuned Amplifiers: Analysis of capacitor coupled single tuned amplifier- Double tuned amplifier - Stagger tuned amplifiers- Class C tuned amplifier. PRACTICAL 1. Transient response of BJT feedback amplifiers. 2. Simulation of Frequency response of feedback amplifiers.

OSCILLATORS & MULTIVIBRATOR CIRCUITS

THEORY Oscillators: Mechanism for start of oscillation and stabilization of amplitude, General form of an Oscillator, Analysis of LC oscillators - Hartley, Colpitts, RC oscillators - Phase shift - Wien bridge. Multivibrator Circuits: Astable multivibrator-Monostable multivibrator and Bistable multivibrator. PRACTICAL 1. Design an astable multivibrator with LEDs at the output. 2. Design and implement a Hartley oscillator. Simulation experiments 3. Transient response of RC Phase shift oscillators.

IC MOSFET AMPLIFIERS

THEORY IC Amplifiers: IC biasing-Current steering circuit using MOSFET- MOSFET current sources- PMOS and NMOS current sources. Amplifier with active loads: Enhancement load, Depletion load and current source load. PRACTICAL Simulation experiments 1. Transient response of PMOS and NMOS current sources.
