FUNDAMENTALS OF OP-AMP

Introduction of Op-Amp and ideal Op-Amp- Characteristics, feedback in ideal Op-Amp. Inverting and Non inverting Amplifier, DC characteristics, AC characteristics- Frequency Response, Slew Rate. Applications: Adder and subtractor, Instrumentation amplifiers, I to V and V to I converter, Op-Amp circuits using diodes, Integrator and Differentiator.

COMPARATORS AND SPECIAL FUNCTION IC’s

Comparator, Zero crossing detector, Timer IC 555 - Functional block diagram and description , Monostable and Astable operation, Applications, IC Voltage regulators – Three terminal fixed and adjustable voltage regulators, D/A converter – specifications, weighted resistor type, R-2R Ladder type. A/D Converters – specifications, Flash type and Successive Approximation type.

GATES AND MINIMIZATION TECHNIQUES

Digital Logic Gates: Logic Gates, NAND, NOR Implementation. Basic Theorems and Properties of Boolean Algebra, Boolean Functions, Canonical and Standard Forms, Minterms and Maxterms, Sum of products and product of sums. Karnaugh map Minimization, Quine- Mc Cluskey method of minimization.

COMBINATIONAL AND SEQUENTIAL CIRCUITS

Half and Full Adders, Half and Full Subtractors, Multiplexer and Demultiplexer, Code Converters- Binary to Gray, Gray to Binary, Excess3 to BCD, BCD to Excess 3. Decoder and Encoder, Design of Counters- synchronous up/down counter,Shift registers- SISO,SIPO, PISO,PIPO

SEQUENTIAL CIRCUITS AND PLC

Flip flops – Fundamentals. SR, JK, T, D and Master/Slave FF. Operation and excitation tables, Analysis and design of clocked sequential circuits –Moore/Mealy models, state minimization, state assignment, Introduction to PLC-FBD ,Programming FBD using Combinational circuits (Basic Logic Gates – AND,OR,NAND and NOR)
